What Is Invisalign Treatment?

Aside from offering a gorgeous smile, straight, properly aligned teeth also tend to be healthier and easier to clean. Dental problems (including overcrowded teeth and a misaligned bite) might also result in future health complications that may affect your eating and speaking abilities, which could be costlier to repair. At Presidential Dental Group, we want everyone to be able to enjoy the benefits of a healthier, more confident smile, which is why we're excited to offer Invisalign aligners for adults and teenagers in Washington, D.C. Invisalign is a groundbreaking orthodontic treatment that uses a set of discreet, removable aligner trays to gently reposition the teeth, offering the benefits of traditional metal braces without the awkwardness. Schedule your consultation with Dr. Kami'Lah Brown and the rest of our team to find out if you could benefit from Invisalign orthodontic treatments.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Your Invisalign treatment at Presidential Dental Group will begin with a member of our staff taking digital "impressions" of your upper and lower teeth using our office's sophisticated intraoral scanning equipment. These impressions will be used to build a personalized treatment plan, which will be sent to a laboratory that will craft your customized clear aligner trays. Once your Invisalign trays have been shipped to our office, you'll return to pick them up and learn how to use them. The Invisalign aligners should be worn for a minimum of 20 – 22 hours every day and only taken out before brushing, flossing your teeth, eating meals or snacks, or drinking. Over time, the aligners will slowly shift your teeth into their proper position. Approximately every 1 – 2 weeks, you will swap your current pair of aligners for the next in the series.

The length of time required for your Invisalign treatment will depend on the original alignment of your teeth and your own aesthetic goals, but most of our teenage and adult patients use their aligners for 1 – 2 years. Throughout your treatment, our trained Invisalign dentists will schedule regular checkups to monitor your progress. Once your Invisalign treatment is done, you'll be given a set of custom Vivera® containers to wear to keep your teeth from shifting any further. After they're delivered to our Washington, D.C. dental office, our staff will explain when to wear your orthodontic retainers and ways to maintain them.

My entire experience with Presidential Dental has been absolutely amazing. The 1st time we spoke was at 4:30 in the afternoon and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day. When I arrived every single person on the staff greeted me. I waited for about 7 minutes before being taken into an examination room. I scheduled the appointment to address a come and go pain on the upper right side of my mouth. Thought I was going to have a tooth extracted. After the exam I learned that I would need to have 3 teeth removed. Makes sense as I had not been to the dentist in over 7 years. Saying "terrified" doesn't accurately give the full view of how scared I am of 'The Dentist'. 3 extractions? I told Dr. Brown that I would die before I had 3 teeth removed. She then explained to me the various studies and evidence that show how problems that start in your mouth can become systemic issues over time. Alzheimer's even pops up in these studies. But even with all of this evidence, she backed up, realizing how stressed and worried I was. Dr. Brown explained that she could call in a prescription that would help with my anxiety over the procedure. Done deal. We set a date 2 weeks away ( to give me time to process all of this ). I called my insurance company the next day to get some billing details and learned that Presidential Dental was out of my network. I told my dental administrator that this is where I was going because I was comfortable with how everything was explained and specifically Dr. Brown's professionalism. What stuck out to me is when she explained WHAT needed to be done. She stressed that she never says, "this is going to be easy". She said that what I needed done was straight-forward for her and her team. The day before my appointment I received a text informing me that my prescription was ready. I followed the instructions and arrived at the office the next day feeling unusually calm. Now, the reason I'm terrified of the dentist is because of my last visit. 5 needles to the gums - and I felt every one of them. When I explained this to Dr. Brown she said, "not today". She then applied some jelly-like substance on my gums and within a couple minutes I couldn't feel when I tapped against my cheek. Then she picked up the syringe! I barely felt the first one and don't know how many hits there were in total because I didn't feel anything else. 10 minutes later it was all done! Dr. Brown sat down with me and went over the post op instructions and then called in my prescriptions. I still had not felt any discomfort 2 hours later when I got to the pharmacy. Marked the time and then started the pills regimen. Woke up today with nothing but a very slight swelling in the area of the extractions - that has already gone down as I'm typing this 13 hours after the visit. There was not one aspect of my experience that could have been better. It doesn't seem possible that there could be a better dentist - or staff - than Presidential Dental. Thank you, Dr. Brown.

Always a great dental experience here. I was a patient for about 1.5 years and I only left because I moved out of state. I had cavity fillings, onlays, and regular cleanings and almost every appointment went very smoothly. All the staff was amazing too from the dentist to the front desk staff to the hygienist. It’s nice to be surrounded by women of color when you’re in a vulnerable and probably anxious state haha.

Great team, great music, great cleanings! Special shout out to Tiffany, one of the best most relaxed cleanings I’ve ever had!
